1 Day Lijiang Tour To Tiger Leaping Gorge And First Bend Yangtze River

Tour Code: SLJ_02
Destination: Lijiang

Tour Itinerary

Day 01 Lijiang (Lunch + Dinner)
Be met by our guide in your hotel, drive about 62 KM to the First Bend of the Yangtze River with imposing scenery in Shigu Town (Shigu literally means "stone drum" in Chinese). In the First Bend of Yangtze River, there is optional rafting tour to Longpan Village.
Drive 38 KM to the Tiger Leaping Gorge. In the upper part of Tiger Leaping Gorge, walk about 2.5 Km from the entrance to Tiger Leaping Rock. It's a nice walking along the Jinsha River on marble trail. Pass through three marble tunnels in the gorge.
Drive back to Lijiang, visit Black Dragon Pool in Yuquan Park and the Dongba Museum. Optional program in the evening: Naxi Orchestral and Show.

The First Bend of the Yangtze River: Yangtze River flows from the glaciers on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau eastward across southwest, central and eastern China before emptying into sea at Shanghai. About 44 miles outside of Lijiang, unusual geological phenomenon forces the Yangtze to make a sudden V-shaped bend and flow to the northeast. The area at the river's bend features wide flow of water, green river water and green willows on both sides of the river. It is the best place to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
Tiger-Leaping Gorge: The gorge is located on the way from Lijiang to Shangri-La, lying between Haba Snow Mountain and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. It is one of the deepest canyons of the world, famous for its majesty and grotesquery. At the narrowest spot the river is only 30 meters wide. The mouth of the gorge is 1,800 meters above sea level. The river is flanked by Yulong and Haba snow mountains, with a height difference of 3,900 meters. It is an ideal place for those who love hiking. There are three routes for hiking. One can start from Hutiaoxia Town along the river to Daju in Lijiang County, or go upstream from Daju. The third route sets out from Hutiaoxia Town to Hetaoyuan and is 28 km in length.
